Balochistan active volcano, Shujaat too suffers from foreign hand phobia

ISLAMABAD - Terming Balochistan an ‘active volcano’, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Wednesday asked the government to raise the issue of Indian involvement in the province and Fata at the United Nations forum, as the government’s functionaries had time and again claimed of neighbouring country’s support to militants in the restive territories of Pakistan.

In an exclusive interview with TheNation, Ch Shujaat said that those who were fighting in Swat and Fata in the name of Taliban and Islam had nothing to do with the religion and were defaming its image across the globe. “They are all criminals who intend to destabilise the country on foreign nod and our party is supporting military operation there for the integrity of the country,” he added.

“But on the other hand, the issue of Balochistan is purely political and there is no option of using force to resolve the crisis,” he said, adding that the government would have to win the hearts of Baloch people to end persistent unrest there. He said the crisis of Balochistan could easily be resolved through negotiations ‘and first of all we should find reasons behind the turmoil and then address them without any procrastination’. He said if the government tried to deprive Baloch people of their rights and used force at any stage, his party would resist the move first of all.

He said anti-Pakistan forces were lending their whole-hearted support to miscreants and militants in Balochistan and Fata, adding a number of government functionaries had also admitted and alleged that there was involvement of external forces in these restive areas. “But the government has failed to plead the case at international forum. When India can approach to UN on Mumbai attacks, why Pakistan can’t plead the case of India’s support to miscreants in Balochistan and Fata there,” he questioned.

Shujaat said the people of Balochistan were crying for justice, adding the resources of any province should first be employed for the betterment and welfare of the people of that particular province. “When the dwellers of Wazirabad would be enjoying the facility of natural gas while the villages in Sui would remain deprived of the facility, the ultimate cry of pain will echo,” he added.

He said that there was no need of calling APC on Balochistan issue. “It is the problem confined in the boundaries of Balochistan and a man or party having representation or base in Gujranwala can’t understand it and give recommendations regarding its solution,” he observed. He said that the government should take Baloch leaders, tribes and masses on board and ask them about their grievances and resolve them on war footing. He said that many Baloch leaders were living in Dubai and London in forced exile and the government should announce amnesty for them and also take them on board for broad based solution of Balochistan crisis.

When asked what he had done to resolve Balochistan issue when PML-Q was in power, he said the committee headed by party’s Secretary General Mushahid Hussain Sayed had played a pivotal role in finding the causes of the issue but, unfortunately, its recommendations could not be implemented in true letter and spirit. He said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani too, in his recent visit to Quetta, had hailed the recommendations of PML-Q committee and had said that they should be implemented.

On the question about the hurdles in the way of implementing said committee’s recommendations, Shujaat said that according to establishment’s paradigm, it was strong Federation that was necessary for strong provinces ‘while my party thought and still thinks that the strong provinces make strong Federation.’ He said it was that kind of mindset that turned the committee’s work into a failure.

He said that the parliamentarians of Balochistan should be given special funds so that they could launch development schemes in their respective constituencies for redressing people’s sufferings at grassroots level. He said that there should be no political victimisation in the Balochistan.

On party elections, Shujaat said that he believed in free and fair party polls and like previous elections, this year, too, the polls would be conducted under an independent commission in which every one would have the right to contest. He said that PML-Q and PML-N could not establish proximity and coordination till the PML-N defined its position. “PML-N is boarding on two boats; it is the part of the government and also declares itself as Opposition,” he observed.

He said that terrorism was also a form of calamity while the incumbent government had virtually failed to get international support in terms of financial assistance. “During earthquake 2005, all the world came forward to help Pakistan and the assistance by international community was 200 per cent greater than what we are getting today,” he said, adding that it reflected diplomatic failure of sitting regime. Terming budget 2009-10 as anti-poor, he said that his party had done major contribution in Senate’s 91 recommendations regarding finance bill.

BNF, Baloch Women Panel and Marri Itehad to protest on the international day against torture

Quetta: Baloch Women Panel, BNF and Marri Itehad has announced to protest against illegal arrests, torture and the military operation in Balochistan on ‘26 June 2009’ the international day against torture. The aim of the protest on the International day against torture is meant to bring the plight of the Baloch nation into the attention of international community and International Human Rights organisations. It is also meant to remind the UN about their responsibilities that they have dedicated a day to torture victims, yet the torture against innocent people goes unnoticed. “United Nations has designated 26thJune as the International Day against Torture to emphasize the importance of the right to personal dignity and security of all individuals around the world, guaranteed within the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”.

Thousands of Baloch are missing and being tortured by the Pakistani intelligence agencies but the UN has completely ignored the sufferings of Baloch nation. Pakistan and Iran are committing gross violations of human rights, they are at forefront torturing, executing, and murdering innocent people in Balochistan, yet the atrocities against Baloch people have been ignored by the UN and other International Human Rights Organisations.

Baloch victims of Pakistani’s military intelligence have time and again narrated the horrible stories of torture and suffering at the hand of Pakistani authorities. The stories of torture, the picture and videos of torture victims have been published on Baloch websites and on the internet but their hues and cries went in vain as no one from the international champions of human rights bothered to help them. Baloch representative in UN Mr. Mehran Baluch have been going to UN to highlight the plight of the Baloch people since 2001 but sadly there has been no action from the UN side.

Torture and abductions in Balochistan by the Pakistani intelligence agencies have become the daily routine and there is no such household in Balochistan whose loved ones have not been abducted and tortured by the Pakistani authorities.

BWP (Baloch Women Panel) has appealed to the Baloch nation and other oppressed nationalities and freeborn people to come and join them on 26 June to protest against the torture and mistreatment of the innocent people by the Pakistani and Iranian authorities.

The youth should play revolutionary role in Baloch national liberation struggle: Brahumdagh Bugti

Quetta: The chief of BRP (Baloch Republican Party) Nawbzada Brahumdagh Bugti while addressing the BRSO council session via telephone said that Baloch youth should not take any such action which may harm the Baloch National liberation struggle. He congratulated the newly unopposed elected chairman of BRSO Mr Gulzar Dost Baloch and other members. He hoped that BRSO will continue to work patienctley and determined.

He said that although he would give his consents on organisational and national matter but his views should be considered the point of view of an individual only. He said he would want the council session take decisions about all other matters. BRP and BRSO should give 'everyone' especially party activists “the right to disagree” but no one should be allowed to use disagreement as an excuse to divide the party. He said that all political matter should be decided in a democratic manner and majority’s decision should be respected.

He said that if the BRSO activists wanted to succeed in their aim then they must keep away from ethical and moral bankruptcy in order to satisfy the Nation about their honest ideology. He advised that BRSO members that they should not take any such step which might harm the organisation’s identity. He said that BRSO should be at fore front of the Baluch struggle for freedom.

He said that the very important responsibility of the organisation was to be concerned about their education and “you should continue the policy of ‘learn and teach other’ because you’re the future leadership of the nation. Unless you are educated in History, science, politics, economic, psychology and information technology you cannot lead the nation”. He said that they needed to challenge the enemy at all fronts. “The knowledge is as important as resistance”, he added. It was the responsibility of Baloch youth to spread awareness about freedom to every house and hut.

Earlier on Suterday the BRSO has elected Gulzar Dost Baloch as their chairman, Chief Attaullah Baloch as vice chairman, Fiasal Baloch sectary general, Mir Karam Baloch deputy sectary general, and Dad Shah Baloch joint sectary and Wahid Baloch finance sectary. The newly elected cabenit vowed that they will give full attention to education as they believed without education they cannot succeed in their aim.

Shahzeb Baloch was abducted from Quetta on 26 March 2009 and was taken to an undisclosed location, which led to massive protests by the BSO (A) activists in Quetta city and elsewhere in Balochistan.

Explaining his abduction shahzeb Baloch was that he was abducted from Masjid road Quetta by the personal of intelligence agencies and taken to unknown location and has been released on by his capturers on 17 Jun 2009 in Loralia. He said has been physically tortured only on first day after that he was only mentally tortured by asking him strange questions repeatedly. He said on 6 May 2009 his capturers took him away saying that he will be released but I don’t whether he really has been released or has he been transferred to another place, because state agencies cannot be trusted. He said that he heard that other Baloch youth are being held there as well.

He said while in barrack his eyes were open but the rest of the time and during interrogation he was blindfolded, however he was always shackled and handcuffed even inside the barrack. He said that he would be taken to another place for interrogation; he would be blindfolded while being interrogated. He said that the interrogators were trying to link BSO (azaad) with Baloch Freedom Fighters because BSO (azaad) has been politically and morally supporting Baloch resistance movement forum at all forums. He said although he was blindfolded and could not see the interrogating officials but from their dialect they seemed Pathan (Peshawari) and Punjabis and they seemed pretty annoyed about the ongoing Baloch struggle for Freedom.

Balochistan: Three Prominent Student Leaders Arrested

Below is an article published by Baluchistan People's Front:

Three prominent student leaders in Baluchistan have been arrested after widespread demonstrations protesting against unprecedented widespread fraud in elections. Shahryar Hosseinbor, Ahmad Rigi and Saeed Arbabzahi were taken to unidentified prisons and their family's search for finding them has not returned a positive result. These students were involved in civil and legal activities.

They were part of a group that organised and supervised the election process. The arrested students witnessed the counting of the votes but Ahmadinejad who has won the least votes in Baluchistan was declared the winner of the elections. This was something very surprising for those who supervised elections and the process of counting the votes.

The record shows that the Islamic Republic of Iran uses ruthless techniques and torture to punish the opponents in Baluchistan. Those who have been arrested claimed that their feet were drilled, their bodies were burnt, their finger nails were pulled and their genitals were damaged. A large number of them have been executed or hanged in public.

The Baluch people are Sunnis and they are considered by the Iranian security forces as infidels who deserve to have maximum physical and mental torture before being hanged. Roxana Saberi, the American journalist that was detained a few months ago and released later [2009], claimed that she was persuaded to confess to suggested allegations to secure her later release from prison.

It is likely that these students would face the same fate if the international community and human rights organizations do not take adequate actions NOW to force the Islamic Republic of Iran to release them as soon as possible.

Once again, the disintegration of Pakistan re-sounding…

Once again, the disintegration of Pakistan re-sounding…
In an article published in The Asian Times, well known International Strategic Analyst Pepe Escobar has revealed that Washington D.C. has put its 'Laser ray' sight on the Pakistani occupied Baluchistan. Washington wants to break and divide Pakistan in the same manner as the Balkan Region in the decade of 1990. On Pakistan's decline the Analyst has used the term of Balkanization. He writes that the American Administration is in complete favor of this province's freedom. This plan has gained great popularity in Washington's diplomatic and policy making circles. Baluchistan remains totally under the radar of the frenetic US news cycle and Gwader is the main part of new US great game. American organizations have given the name "Eurasia Piplinistan" to this plan. To bring this plan on a working process, the strict General Stanley Mike Crystal to be appointed on behalf of General Patrice and Helmand's new military bases, are the main points analysts are looking at these days.
Pepe, writing more on the American plan about Baluchistan, says Americans have confessed that numerous Balochi readers pointed out to this correspondent that it is now in fact a 50% Balochi/Pashtun province. Most Pashtoons live near the Afghan border. And many happen to be neighbors of Afghanistan's Helmand province - the key site of the upcoming Obama surge. In case of a hypothetical balkanization of Pakistan, Balochs and Pashtuns would go separate ways. Quetta, the provincial capital, in terms of population and business activity, is already dominated by Pashtuns. Considering this last sentence true, Mr. Escobar has given importance writing that Baluchistan's internal politics are complex. Balochs and Brahvies are separate nationalities - with different spoken languages and culture. Quite a few Balochis do not accept Brahvies as Balochs.
Honestly, these last two sentences made us helpless stopping ourselves in sharing our views on this topic because Dear Mr. Escobar's all these views are not at all new to me, except using Helmand military bases for Baluchistan Liberation point. Other than this, we have cleared all the other points in many of our articles which have been published in the newspaper Daily Tawar. Readers may remember that once we even wrote at the point that Pakistan with its geography is not acceptable and is of no interest for the world. The US and the entire world has tolerated Pakistan's attitude over Baluchistan. Punjab had taken Baloch's responsibility and all the talks were through Punjab but now experience has proven that Punjab has failed badly in fulfilling these responsibilities. After previous military operations, fifth military operation has opened the eyes of many countries that Baloch nation does not accept its slavery. Previous years resistance has shown everyone that to live and work peacefully in this region Baloch's willingness is a must. Other then Baluchistan's resources the things we have always focused include Central Asia's mineral resources and gas. To reach these minerals and gas it is very necessary to keep peace in Baloch and Pashtoon areas and now these both nations want direct issues. Pakistan interferes in Baloch, Afghan and US issues making itself concern without any reason. Baloch leader Nawab Khair Baksh once even said that we can negotiate with a pig but not a Punjabi. If the matter has come to this point so the US should kick Punjab out from its gate keeping duty.
Here we will once again discuss on these aspects which foreign intellectuals neglect or don’t bring them under discussion because of some interests and give their decisions through surface discussions that US wants to break Pakistan to easily get Baluchistan's rich minerals. To think and say on these topics these Misters don’t bother to think that; Any Pakistani ruler can even think of standing as a barrier in front of any US interest? And if US is interested in conquering Baluchistan's minerals, are Pakistani rulers ready to play any mega project or any contract drama in front of US to handover them the minerals? Therefore, in our opinion liberating Baluchistan might be one reason to conquer natural resources of Baluchistan by the US but it can't be the basic reason because to reach this aim it is very necessary to solve three main problems. If these problems are not solved so reaching Baluchistan's assets and central Asia's gas might just remain a dream. Those Problems are related to Pakistan's existence and all the useless efforts done by the Pakistani rulers to make the US, Europe and the civilized world believe that Pakistan can solve these problems;
1. Spreading Religious Extremists,
2. Islamic Nuclear Assets,
3. Drugs.
These three problems are both for US and the coalitions imagined lethal. International analysts talking about Pakistan's Breakage neglect these points whereas Pakistan's wrong statements and failure are the main cause of its destructions. We have always tried to gain attention to these three main (and several countless small) problems only appearing solution is Hillary Clinton's suggestion which is down-sizing Pakistan, Or if, the fight against the Islamic extremists may increase to bigger cities of Pakistan and the main cause for this will be Pakistan's inner destabilized political system, corruption, ruler and public distance and will create a worse situation.
After so many assurances Islamic nuclear weapons are still not safe in world's eyes and local Pashtoons are suffering hard because of the military operation going on in the tribal areas. There are very few chances that in near future Pakistani military might be able to sustain government writ in tribal areas. At the moment, prayers for Pakistani military win are considered by us as pure government propaganda because many such claims were made in the past which appeared false later on. It has become very difficult for Pakistan to adjust and hide the refugees (Pashtoons) anywhere. Punjab and Sindh has started raising their voices against unfortunate refugees (Pashtoon) which leads these hundreds of thousands of people not giving their sympathy to Pakistani rulers or public(Punjabis and Muhajirs and at some point Sindhis). The same military who consists of 40% of Pashtoons is on war against Pashtoon and genociding them. In this situation Taliban and other religious movements will get boost in fact the possibility of Pakistani Islamic nuclear assets getting into these extremists movement increases on a large scale which is not less than a hanging sword on the American forces.
Pakistan existence political (corrupt) and social make is understood to be the main problem in this religious war causing it still far from victory. Until and unless Pakistan is divided into different parts it is not possible to stop these religious extremists from moving one place to another or to bring them under any control. Similar problems are with the drugs issue. No such country can control drugs where a border security guard can make much more money than a city SHO. Militia and Anti-Narcotics officers don’t bother to speak until the deal is in millions. To break these chains also, it is important to divide Pakistan in different parts.
In short, these are the basic things causing the US and the world chase Pakistan. But, it doesn’t means the US ever thought that these aims can be achieved rubbing Aladdin's lamp. There is no doubt that US willingness is needed in building or disintegrating any country.
If everything done in this world was under US wishes, so countries like Iran and North Korea wouldn’t have existed in the world map. In Pakistan's case, it has already been divided into different parts and is in state of war which is due to the evil-doings of its own rulers. Now the world is thinking how to separate these parts in less loss.
Here we 100% agree with the foreign intellectuals and analysts that the brave US is now fed-up of its nearest coalition Pakistan and wants to bring Pakistan on such a stage that it won't be able to make the US chase it anymore. Therefore we being Baloch are very depressed by issues relating Baluchistan published in Pakistan lacking reality and consisting more of imagination. The thought of people living in US after these kinds of media propagandas against Baluchistan and Balochs not only increases the threat of civil war but the aim the world including Balochs have been struggling for, might not be achieved.
The most repeated mistake which the Pakistani media always tries to promote is the Baloch-Pashtoon population ratio. In each and every analysis Baloch population is (criminally) made to appear less so that Baloch cannot claim the ownership of this land. Hundreds of thousands of Afghan refugees came to Baluchistan after the Red Revolution who were later on made to appear the natives of different divisions and provided with National ID cards by the so-called Baloch and Pashtoon pro-parliament leaders to gain their votes (they are present in large number in Pashtoon areas whereas in Baloch areas specially in Chaghi large numbers of refugees were provided NIDs) After adding all these numbers Pashtoon become 25per cent, different ethnics become 15per cent whereas Baloch remains in majority by 60per cent. Balochs and Pashtoons both are living separate in their own separate historical homelands and there is no land basis conflict in between them if one is not created. Although Pakistani media and foreign writers usually show both these nations as 50/50 in this land and more on Baloch is divided into 2 parts to convey Pakistani heart-sayings. Mr. Escobar has repeated the same felony mistake showing Balochs and Brahvis as two different nations and their language, culture and traditions different. This is such an aberrant, Baloch enemy and far from reality conspiracy which is only done by Baloch nation's enemy or someone who is not acquainted to Baloch history.
"Most of the Balochs don’t see Brahvis as Balochs" this sentence of Mr. Escobar cannot be digested by us at all. He even did not mention the source of this information. Although here it is necessary to explain that no Balochi or Brahvi speaking Personal or head ever mention this irresponsible statement that Balochs and Brahvis are two different nations.
We think we don’t have to make anyone understand that if the proofs are invalid so the decision similarly becomes a wrong and an injustice one. This is the basic point we are trying to bring under debate since long. Baloch leadership should pay attention on the issues which are going to be great threat in the near future rather than hoping anything from Pakistan. In Baluchistan there is no role of Baloch in any job, educational centers, development funds and other government facilities. Baloch has been taken out so smoothly in Pakistan's national issues. Its leadership does not know or is confused that it should leave the preparations for elections and give their time to plan some tactics for their nation's survival. On the other hand, if Washington and the world's powerful countries act under these untrue facts about Baloch and Baluchistan being published on international level, it may result very terrifying. It can be an effort done by the enemies of the Baloch Cause to spread such information about Baloch and Baluchistan and make them acceptable. To fail these efforts Baloch pro-liberation leaders have a lot of capacity. People can make decisions on your case on the social make only if the information they get are based on true facts or if changes brought on the basis of false information will only increase the tensions already present there.

11 June; Shaheed Hameed Day

Balochistany namdaren o sheer delen bachek Shaheed Hameed Baloch ky haiy beset o shashme sal roch 11 june 2009 a dark bot

SHAHEED HAMED BALOCH was born in the village of Kunchiti; district Kech (Turbat), Mukaran. He was a student at the Government Degree Collage Turbat now known as Attah Shad Degree Collage. He was a member of the Baloch Students Organization, and was arrested on 9 December 1979 on the charge of firing at a military officer from the Gulf state of Oman who was recruiting Pakistani mercenary soldiers from the Balochistan province. Even though the Omani officer was not hurt in the alleged incident, Special Military Court No. 4 charged and sentenced the 23 year old Baloch to death for killing another person, in spite of the fact that the military prosecutor was not able to establish the identity of this other person. On June 11, 1981 Shaheed Hameed Baloch was hanged to death in Mach jail. His body was flown in by an army helicopter to his native village Kunchiti, where his body was laid to rest.

Before going to the gallows Shaheed Hameed Baloch wrote his last will. Following is abstracted from his will.

Testament of Freedom

He who avenges himself
Says farewell to his beautiful wife
Has no longing for power or wealth

It does not worry me a bit if this will and testament of mine reaches the great people of the glorious Balochistan or not. As I write these words, there are armed guards all over the place, keeping a watchful eye on every move I make. I have only eight hours to live. Eight from now I shall be proudly walking to the gallows. I have no feeling of remorse, nor am I bothered by the thought that I should have lived longer rather than be dead soon, because to lead a life without any purpose or to live under the yoke of slavery, is a curse.

I am neither the first nor the only one to give his blood for Balochistan; hundreds of Baloch have laid down their lives for the fatherland. In my family alone I shall be the second person to kiss the hangman’s noose. And thus sacrifice my life for the great goal, which I am certain, the younger generations of Baloch shall ultimately achieve. The British executed one of my ancestors, Sheran Dad Karim, in 1902.

I would like to tell my friends that such a priceless boon like freedom cannot be won without the supreme sacrifice. I know of no precedent in history where nations have achieved freedom without rendering the supreme sacrifice. The path to freedom and independence is admittedly a difficult one. However, the goal awaiting us is truly magnificent. I feel happy and consoled to think that though independence may elude us from a long time to come – my little daughter Bibi Banadi who is now 3 years old may experience it in her life time – my grandchildren and those of my brother Beebagr’s will surely be blessed with it and that day will be the day when my soul will finally rest in peace and receive true comfort.

Can you, by severing the heads from the bodies,
Kill living thoughts and ideas?
Can you, by wrenching the flowers from the branches,
Stop their fragrance from spreading?

I am certain that every member of my family will take my execution with calmness and fortitude. I wish my mother were alive today, for, she must have sung this lullaby in my ears when I was a child:

If you die a hero’s death,
I shall visit your grave,
In the best of attire and make up.
Instead of mourning and lamenting
I shall sing you a song of joy.
And shall proudly give birth
To another child exactly like you.

I am sure dearest sisters will not weep and go into mourning over my death. I ask my grandmother to recall the lullaby she used to sing for all of us:

When my flower-like son becomes a youth
He will arm himself with the best of weapons.
He shall make the traitors bite the dust,
He shall fight and crush his enemies.

The lofty mountains and the vast plains of Balochistan are waiting for those who could embrace them and turn them into castles and battlegrounds.

Mountains are the fortresses of the Baloch
Impregnable heights are their treasure houses
Flowing springs quench their thirst

Eastern Balochistan: Baloch rally against Iran

QUETTA: Threatening to target Iranian nationals in Pakistan, hundreds of Baloch women and children rallied on Monday against the recent execution of five Baloch nationals by the Iranian government.

The protest was organised by the Baloch Women’s Panel and the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO-Azad), and was led by University of Balochistan Professor Dr Saba Dashtiyari. Chanting slogans against the Iranian government, the protesters appealed to the international community to take notice of the “grave violation of human rights” against the Baloch Sunni ethnic and religious minority.

Five Baloch were executed in the Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchistan due to their alleged involvement in the terrorist attack on a Shia mosque on May 28, which resulted in 25 people dead and 125 injured. Following the attack, Iran shut down its border with Pakistan, stating Jandullah, who claimed responsibility for the attack, was using Pakistani territory to stage its attacks.

Meher Jan Baloch, a leader of the Baloch Women’s Panel, condemned the public hanging, saying the Baloch were not given a fair trial or the right to defend themselves. “International countries and human rights organisations, mainly the US and the UN, should take notice of the mistreatment meted out to minorities in Iran,” she said. She warned that if Iran did not improve its relations with the Baloch population, then the Baloch living in Pakistan occupied Balochistan would move to help their brethren by target killing Iranian nationals living in, or visiting, Pakistan.

Dr Saba Dashtiyari, meanwhile, claimed Iran and Pakistan had been collaborating with each other to suppress their Baloch populations. She said the Baloch living on both sides of the border did not recognise the international boundary. The public hanging of the Baloch citizens would prove counter-productive in the future, as Baloch would avenge this action, she added.

Western Balochistan: serious human right violations reports against the Iranian authorities

Report by Reza Hossein Borr: “25 Baluch have been killed and hundreds of Baluch people have been arrested since Sunday in Zahedan. Dozens of shops that belonged to the Baluch people have been completely destroyed. The security forces are searching a large area of Zahedan house by house. Anybody who wears Baluchi clothe is searched and possibly arrested. There are security forces everywhere”.

According to reports from the activists in BHRAA “the Islamic Republic of Iran still continues arresting people and spreads terror, horror and fear in Zahedan, even several days after Zahedan ‘’Imam Ali’’ mosque bomb attack. Some of local reports suggest that more than 100 persons have been arrested.

The most recent report obtained by our reporters in Zahedan suggests that the security police forces arrested more than 25 Baluch in Zahedan on Sunday 31 of May 2009 and transferred them to yet an unknown place. These detainees include people a) who were admitted to the ‘’Khatm-ul-ania’’ hospital in Zahedan because they had been beaten by the pro-regime ultra-conservative groups, the relatives to the wounded while were visiting them.

Furthermore, the reports suggest that the relatives dare not ask any investigation into what happened to their family members, as they fear for their own safety and destiny”.

Henry Newman of www.guardian.co.uk, writes “Iran, embarrassed by the attacks in Zahedan, has been quick to act. Less than 36 hours after the mosque bombing, three rebels were executed following a rushed trial. The judiciary head of Sistan-Baluchistan has been keen to stress that due process was observed but this trial and previous trials of terrorist suspects have been criticised by human rights organisations. In the case of the Zahedan bombing, statements regarding the trial, the plot itself and even the numbers affected are divergent, even contradictory.

The bombings highlight ongoing ethno-religious tensions within Iran and across the broader region. Despite the attempts of Iranian officials to deflect attention onto external scapegoats it is clear that there are serious domestic problems: the country's integrity is not yet in real danger but the Islamic regime and Iranian society at large must seek a more equitable accommodation for its diverse population”.

Referring to the Baluch activists, political parties and media The London based Baluch analyst Mr Hossein Borr complains that perhaps media and political parties from Eastern Balochistan are not taking the tention in Westersn Balchistan as seriously.

He asks “Can anybody explain why the Baluch activists, political parties and media in different parts of the world and specifically in East Balochistan are silent about the mass arrests and killings of Baluch people in the last few days in Western Baluchistan”? He further writes “This is a very defining moment in our history. The Baluch people want to know who is working to achieve the rights of the Baluch people and whole is doing business in politics.

Those who are engaged in politics in every corner of Baluchistan or the world, now face a determining choice which will shape the view of the Baluch people on them. The Baluch people now see with their own eyes, who are working for the achievement of Baluch rights and who are in politics to make a name, find a seat in parliament or in government or benefit from it financially in different ways. This is also a determining phase in the direction of Baluch movement. This is a time to make your stand very clear”.

He is optimistic that "The Baluch people will succeed in achieving their rights only if all Baluch intellectuals, political activists, political parties, newspapers and Internet media focus their attention on developments that are taking place right now inside Zahedan.

These circumstances are effective test to indicate who is really committed to Baluch cause and who is in politics for financial gains".

Vice chairperson of BSO (azaad) and two others awarded three year sentence by a Pakistani court

Turbat: An anti terror court has sentenced central vice chairperson of BSO (azaad) Ms. Karima Baloch and two others for three years and imposed on penalty of 150 thousand Pakistani rupees, the court however acquitted peer Jan Baloch of the treason charges. According to details Ms. Karima Baloch, Hammal Baloch and Wahab Baloch were charged under section 123,124 of Pakistan’s law on 14 August 2006. These sections apparently constitute treason if proved. Ms. Karima Baloch and others were accused of treason when they joined a protest rally to observe 14 August (the independence day of Pakistan) as a black day and protest against forced disappearance of thousands Baloch men and women at Shaheed Fida Chowk in Turbat town in Balochistan.

The “special judge” declared them abscond and sentenced and fined them in their absence.

We the BaluchWarna team strongly condemn the sentencing of BSO (azaad) vice chairperson Ms Karima Baloch and others.

1. We believe the judge has sentenced them under pressure from Pakistan’s intelligence agencies (ISI) and MI (Military Intelligence), as it is an open secret that judges in Pakistan has no power to taken any decision independently.

2. It is an undeniable fact that Baloch has nothing to do with Pakistan’s independence and 14 August is observed as a “day of mourning” and condemnation all over Balochistan every year. Sentencing only three people in this regard we believe in illogical.

3. If Pakistan’s judges are really free do decide whatever they want then they must take action against the intelligence agencies who have kidnapped thousands of Baloch youth, elderly, and women. Sentencing those who protest against such atrocities we believe is misuse of power by the Pakistani court and the so called “special judge”.

4. Protesting against state atrocities i.e. illegal detentions, extra judicial murders, rape and misconduct of state intelligence agencies is the democratic right of every individual and for exercising this right Baloch people should not be sentenced.

5. Recently three Baloch political leaders namely Ghulam Mohammad Baloch, Lala Munir Baloch and Sher Mohammad Baloch had been murdered by Pakistan’s intelligence agencies but the courts did not taken any action. The killers of those Baloch leaders are still at large. Baloch student and political activists are being abducted on daily bases but courts do not take any action.

6. Wahid Qamber Baloch who has been acquitted by Balochistan high court due lack of evidence but the ATF (anti terror force) are holding him illegally. His family members including his daughter are currently on hunger strike in Balochistan and Karachi. Again we see no action from the courts and judges.

7. 23-year school teacher Ms. Zarina Baloch is still in custody in Pakistan and her case has been well documented by national and international human right groups that she is being used as a sex slave by Pakistani army. Courts have taken no action against this heinous crime of the military perpetrators. Yet the Baluch activists are being sentenced for opposing such inhuman crimes of the army of Pakistan.

There are numerous such incidents which the courts have simply ignored and took no action against the state sponsored perpetrators. We believe this is biasness of the Pakistani courts to sentence Baloch people for exercising their democratic right but the abductors of thousands of Baloch are not only roaming freely but abducting more and more innocent people.

Balochistan: Pakistani police shot dead one man, UBL Bank set on fire

Panjgur: angry protester set UBL and a National bank on fire after Pakistan police had shot dead one man Noor Ahmad Baloch in Panjgur in Balochistan. According to details police open indiscriminate fire while chasing a stolen car as a result Noor Ahamd Baloch fallen victims of the gunshots of the police. He was pronounced dead on an ambulance when the relatives were trying to take him to Karachi for better treatment. The tragic news of his death soon spread to every corner of Balochistan.

After the news of the innocent Baloch man's death the residents and student organisations took to streets. Punjgur town was shut down and angry protest set ablaze the UBL bank, National Bank and a government television station.

Balochistan’s political parties were also quick to condemn the unfortunate incident. The leaders of different political parties have strongly condemned the attack. In their speech they term the killing of Noor Ahamd Baloch a planned and systematic action of police to sabotage the situation and provoke the Baloch youth and to further worsen the already deteriorated situation in Balochistan. It is worth noting that the Baluch people are already grieving the murder of three Baloch political leaders who were abducted from their lawyers’ office and killed in custody. Yet another killing only adds fuel to the situation and further provokes the people of Balochistan.

The residents in the area and relatives of the victim demanded the arrest of perpetrators. According to some unconfirmed source the responsible officers have been suspended temporarily.
